Two seperate sessions are held in Hitchin every Saturday. Each session has three groups which are split based on age and ability. Class sizes are kept to a maximum of 14 to ensure all students get the individual attention they need to fully benefit from their training.

CONCENTRATING heavily on practical technique work, the general format of Starlight Theatre School consists of the following aspects:

TERMS 1 & 2 focus on technique work, where students learn the three specialised disciplines of performance. Various assignments are assessed by the tutors during this time to ensure that students continue to achieve the high standards required.

TERM 3 puts all the skills learnt into practice by working towards an end of year full-scale musical production at a local theatre.

THEATRE TRIPS are arranged annually for students to see West-End shows or musicals in order to inspire them and to help clarify their goals.

SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded at the end of each school year to a limited number of existing students who display outstanding progress, dedication and discipline.

AWARDS are also given annually to one student from each group for their progress, hard work, enthusiasm and commitment to their training.

ONE-TO-ONE APPRAISALS are offered to students throughout the school year to discuss their progress, establish their targets and enhance their focus.

PROGRESS REPORTS are sent to parents annually at the end of each school year. This is presented using a detailed grading system covering a wide genre of performance qualities to clarify the development of each student.
